ABOUT PABLO PENA
I am a Power Systems Engineer with 15 + years of experience in transmission expansion planning, renewable‐energy integration, and grid enhancing technologies. Holding an MSc in Renewable Energy Integration (UPV/EHU), I currently lead Transmission Studies at UTE (on unpaid leave, remote from Waterloo, ON) and serve as a part‐time Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering at UdelaR. At UTE, I oversee transmission expansion planning studies that drive USD 100 M/year in projects, develop probabilistic load‐flow tools (EPPTRA), and implement dynamic line rating to maximize asset capacity. At UdelaR, I teach “Impact of Distributed Generation” (postgraduate), advise undergraduate and master’s theses, and conduct power system research.
