SKILLS
ABOUT PABLO MANUEL DELGADO
I am an audio researcher working in perceptual audio processing, currently with the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits (IIS) in Germany, and the International Audio Laboratories Erlangen. For the last ten years, I’ve been working on audio processing algorithms that ended up in various products and patents, and I also participated in numerous standardisation activities in audio telecommunications. I defended my doctoral thesis on auditory perceptual models for audio quality measurement and audio coding under the supervision of Jürgen Herre, one of the inventors of the MP3 format.I\'ve lately focused on improving data-driven cognitive models of audio quality perception. For that purpose, I investigate and develop perceptually-motivated machine learning algorithms that can efficiently incorporate subject response training data into quality metrics. As a lecturer, I’ve taught at university-level courses on applied mathematics, physics, electronics and statistical analysis. I additionally gave workshops at international conferences on the topics of auditory perception, for example, for the Audio Engineering Society’s Technical Committee on Perception and Subjective Evaluation of Audio Signals, along ITU-R vice-chair Prof. Thomas Sporer, an international expert in audio quality.I am also a musician and producer, I regularly play and produce music records and actively tour, whenever there\'s time for that!
