   Physician Assistant in Orthopedic Surgery • Performed examinations and accurately documented H & Ps and progress notes for patients of all demographic backgrounds in the clinic environment. • Ordered and interpreted musculoskeletal imaging studies, evaluated patient, formulated diagnoses and treatment plans in collaboration with Attending Physician. • Performed knee, shoulder, trigger finger, and carpal tunnel injections. • Applied braces, splints, and casts to upper and lower extremities. • Performed local wound care as necessary and prescribed appropriate medications. • Made appropriate referrals for further diagnostic testing and physical/occupational therapy working onsite with these allied health professionals. • Treated both chronic and acute orthopedic injuries (including ED referrals) appropriately. • Accurately charted all patient encounter information into electronic health record. • Evaluated and treated patients in hand/wrist, upper extremity fracture, lower extremity fracture, sports medicine, joints, and pediatric orthopedics clinic when available. • Worked closely with Attending Physicians, residents, and other consulting departments (i.e. Infectious Diseases, Rheumatology, Interventional Radiology, and Podiatry) in order to maintain continuity of patient care. • Answered all “eConsults” in a timely fashion in order to implement specialty care to primary care facilities through the implementation of tele-health and also triaged acute orthopedic consults. • Provided orthopedic care for temporary detainees/prisoners of Cook County both at the county hospital clinic and the jail setting. • Scheduled patients for surgical intervention as needed and acted as a liaison between patient, family, and Surgeon. Provided extensive counseling and education to patient and family regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, and preventative education.
