ABOUT P. GRACE HARRELL

I am a physician executive and anesthesiologist with training in pain medicine and critical care, focused on leading complex perioperative systems through growth and transformation. As Medical Director of Anesthesia, I oversee perioperative operations and governance for surgical oncology programs, designing staffing models, decision pathways, and safety frameworks that align clinical performance with institutional goals.During the expansion of City of Hope Orange County, I built and implemented an anesthesia service line across inpatient operating rooms, ambulatory surgery, interventional radiology, and procedural sedation environments. This work included faculty recruitment and mentoring, MD/CRNA hybrid staffing design, perioperative governance structures, and coordinated ICU–OR escalation pathways supporting quality, efficiency, and patient safety.My leadership approach integrates critical care, pain medicine, and systems thinking to improve recovery, patient experience, and care transitions for medically complex populations. I have held faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School and City of Hope and served in national professional leadership roles, with a continued commitment to mentorship, equity, and high-reliability clinical leadership.
