ABOUT OWEN KEY

With more than 31 years of experience across public and private sector and with a focus on Cybersecurity, I am the Director in KPMG Canada’s Advisory practice, providing strategic direction and leadership to help people and organizations manage risk and achieve their personal and corporate objectives. An accomplished senior executive with the vision and leadership insights to strategically plan, direct and control corporate operations aligning with the strategic direction of the Corporation. I am fortunate to work alongside a dedicated team who are committed to be the clear choice in supporting executives, board members and directors to strategically plan, direct and control security initiatives. My professional background encompasses work with Canadian and global organizations in the areas of governance, risk and compliance management, organizational resilience, physical and cybersecurity assessments, operations and response. Backed by considerable expertise at the Board and C-Suite levels from a governance, risk and compliance perspective, I am passionate about helping clients to navigate the challenges of Cyber security management, with a particular focus on strategy and application of innovative solutions.Previously the Chief Security Officer and Chief Information Security Officer at The City of Calgary, I was instrumental in leading the City of Calgary’s Corporate Security Division to the benchmark position of industry leader in North America for public corporations, and all levels of government. Prior to joining KPMG, I worked as a Detective in the Criminal Investigation Branch for the New Zealand Police where I was responsible for enforcing criminal law, enhancing public safety, maintaining order and keeping the peace throughout New Zealand. I have a Commerce Degree from The University of Auckland, a diploma in Policing Studies from the Royal New Zealand Police College and a postgraduate diploma in Security & Risk Management from the University of Leicester.Last, my wife and I opened a heritage home fine art gallery June 2017 in Lineham House 1906 on Historic Elma Street in Okotoks, AB. The collection and event venue focuses on supporting local and Alberta artists and artisans including Alberta musicians and am on LinkedIn to explore professional opportunities.
