Owen approached Peter McCormick, MD in Sept 2018 with an idea which would significantly reduce agency costs and most importantly increase continuity, consistency and quality of staffing for Randolph Hill residents and staff - the objective was to build an internal staff bank.Each of our homes now operates with a significantly reduced agency spend, with two homes having achieved zero agency, two close to zero and the others reducing agency by over 50%. Owen has been instrumental in recruitment, training, co-ordination and management of bank team of 100 people. Our Bank teams, now run by each home, continue to be a valuable resource.Permanent recruitment of staff at all levels - carers, nurses, kitchen staff, domestics, maintenance staff alongside managerial appointments including Operations Manager, Group Nurse Manager, Home Manager, Marketing Manager, Financial Controller. For over 7 years we haven\'t paid recruitment fees for permanent staff as we source all staff directly. A project was undertaken to ensure our newest home Kirk Lane was staffed appropriately before planned opening in June \'21. This was an end to end project working alongside the home management team to recruit on time every required staffing discipline ahead of the opening.Owen sources and attracts suitably qualified Nursing staff from overseas under Tier 2 Sponsorship offered. Support is offered to nurses upon arriving in the UK and Owen sources local accommodation ahead of arrival.Owen has built excellent relationships with local universities and colleges and attends annual careers fairs with Napier, Stirling and Queen Margaret Universities and Edinburgh and West Lothian colleges promoting Randolph Hill as an exceptional employer of choice for newly qualified nurses and care staff. Students have worked on our staff bank, building practical experience alongside their academic studies creating an awareness of Randolph Hill among students and within the university/college population.
