About Owen Atienza

One constant has guided me throughout my education and career: passion. It has shaped my choices and provided the foundation for my growth, helping me become the well-rounded individual I am today. This passion for teamwork, camaraderie, and discipline led me to Alma College, where joining the wrestling team became a pivotal decision. While wrestling challenged me physically, it also sharpened my focus and determination, allowing me to build the future I envisioned for myself beyond the mat.At Alma College, my passion for storytelling led me to pursue a double major in New Media Studies and Marketing. These disciplines gave me the opportunity to organize and manage diverse teams, coordinating efforts to bring ideas to life while shaping narratives that resonate from a marketing perspective. This focus on strategy and communication took me to Italy for a four-week Backpack Filmmaking class and later to Washington D.C, where I spent four months at the Washington Media Institute and interned at Long Story Short Media. Through these experiences, I developed a strong foundation in managing projects and aligning creative work with marketing goals. Upon returning to Alma, I took on a leadership role as an account manager for a documentary project, overseeing production and ensuring the story aligned with the college’s vision, further sharpening my organizational and storytelling skills.In my final year at Alma College, I aimed to further develop and apply my skills. I achieved this as the Marketing and Communications Student Assistant for Alma College, while also leading the marketing efforts for the Alma Highland Festival as part of my Senior Capstone project. This initiative played a key role in helping the festival return to its former success for the city of Alma, and I am proud to have received top marks for my work. I’m deeply honored that my dedication throughout my academic career was recognized with the 2024 Senior Sportsman of the Year Award by the D3 MIAA, an achievement I hold with great pride.After graduating from Alma College, I joined the Widgeteer Team as an Account Executive, eager to bring my hard-earned skills to a dynamic, professional environment. My academic background has equipped me with the tools for success in project management, customer service, and brand development. I’m excited to contribute my expertise while continuing to grow in this role, and I’m ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities that will help drive meaningful results.
