About Karthikeyan Kandavelu
Observer by nature. Curious about exploring the dynamics of human behaviour. I am a User Researcher with a strong foundation in Psychology – Behavioural Science. Over the last 5 years in my current role as a senior user researcher, I have led several User Research engagements for digital products of Shell’s Analytics, Mobility Fleets, and Lubricants businesses. I intend to create business impact, by enabling product teams to improve overall digital experience with the help of credible user insights. My approach to generating credible user insights starts with gaining a deeper understanding of the overall ecosystem in which the business, users and product coexist. I design my user studies by exploring the unanswered questions that will help the business improve its strategy. I synergize with cross-functional stakeholders intended to understand business goals & aspirations, process ownerships, and decision-making instances & criteria to shape my user studies to be in line. My curiosity to look for opportunities to improve experience pushes my research boundaries to go beyond the digital touchpoints and helps me tell compelling stories that influence the business. While being the voice of the end-user, I actively educate and influence business stakeholders to build a pragmatic, scalable UX research ecosystem and build mature insight-driven products. I have mentored several junior researchers, fellow designers and design aspirants on UX design, user research, stakeholder management, digital accessibility, and storytelling. My lens to learn design from world inspiration has enabled my mentees to thrive in their design careers.
