Steering the preparation of the College’s annual statutory accounts, monthly management accounts, and regulatory returns.• Coordinating the formulation of budgets, collaborating closely with budget holders to ensure strategic congruence.• Executing assigned month-end procedures with precision, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal processing.• Providing expert financial reporting, technical accounting, and analysis, serving as the key financial reporting contact within the college.• Delivering financial reports and statistics to governors, senior leadership, and managers as required.• Monitoring and reporting on financial performance, identifying areas for improvement, and providing guidance to department heads.• Serving as a subject matter expert on accounting and reporting topics, adding value to projects run by other departments.• Providing pivotal support for ad hoc business improvement projects, delivering compelling evidence to drive informed decision-making.• Playing a central role in maintaining the fixed assets register and overseeing capital funding returns.• Serving as the primary interface with the payroll team, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.• Supporting the development of financial plans, with a focus on cash flow, for the short and long term.• Taking the lead in preparing VAT and other tax returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.• Maintaining a vigilant oversight on the accuracy and efficiency of processes and accounting methods within the team.
