As a Data Visualization Software Engineer at gRED Data Science and Statistical Computation, I am part of a team focused on developing methods and systems to support interactive analysis of genomic data. Our goals include enabling Genentech science and discovery by building efficient data analysis software systems and developing cutting-edge visualizations for genomic data analysis. My role involves working on large-scale cellular and tissue profiling initiatives using sequencing and imaging technologies. Job Duties Include- Design and develop interactive data analysis interfaces for visualizing, exploring, and interrogating integrated data from diverse technologies and biological systems, focusing on spatial transcriptomics and imaging-based technologies- Develop highly performant, responsive, interactive analysis software for large datasets by collaborating with business analysts, computational scientists, and other software engineers- Collaborate with local and off-shore engineering teams to support software development efforts- Contribute to the broader scientific community through open-source software development, including projects like BiocPy and Epiviz- Utilize modern JavaScript (ES6) programming, d3.js, and WebGL for data visualization and high-performance web-based visualization technologies- Work on the development and maintenance of internal applications designed with React, ensuring they meet the specific needs of our team and our projects- Apply UI design best practices, usability testing, and iterative design for effective and beautiful data analysis interfaces- Develop and maintain software by adhering to best practices in software engineering, including usability, version control, testing, and appropriate use of abstraction.
