ABOUT OMAR SOBH

Omar Sobh, MD, provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care with a special interest in pregnancy care, including both routine and high-risk obstetrics. He serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine and practices with Yale New Haven Health’s Northeast Medical Group.Dr. Sobh earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. A Shelton, Connecticut native, he returned to the area to complete his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bridgeport Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident for Education. During residency he received multiple awards recognizing excellence in obstetrics, teaching, and professionalism, including several Resident Teaching Awards for Yale medical students and the Chief Year Maternal-Fetal Medicine Award. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).Dr. Sobh provides full-spectrum obstetric and gynecologic care with a special interest in obstetrics, including the care of women with both routine and medically complex pregnancies. Supporting women through pregnancy—particularly those facing high-risk or complex situations—is a central focus of his practice. He guides patients through pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period with an emphasis on safety, evidence-based care, and clear communication, ensuring patients feel informed and supported throughout their pregnancy.In addition to obstetric care, Dr. Sobh provides comprehensive gynecologic services, including preventive care, management of abnormal Pap smears and abnormal uterine bleeding, and contraception counseling for patients with complex medical conditions, including placement of long-acting reversible contraception such as IUDs and Nexplanon.Dr. Sobh is actively involved in maternal safety and quality improvement initiatives. He serves on the Bridgeport Hospital Perinatal Safety and Quality Committee, the Bridgeport Hospital Resident Review and Promotion Committee, and the Yale New Haven Health System Gynecology Council.As a Clinical Instructor at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Sobh teaches residents and medical students in both outpatient and inpatient settings.Dr. Sobh delivers babies at Bridgeport Hospital and performs gynecologic surgery at Bridgeport Hospital and Park Avenue Medical Center.
