I’ve just found ways not to make a lightbulb.” - Thomas Edison The above quote paved the way for the curious mind I had at 12-years-old when I wrote a research paper on the Wizard of Menlo Park. I envisioned using math and science as well as compassion and creativity to make great things. When I was 13, I was given a name tag that read “Hello my name is Ima N. Erd” and had my first introduction to engineering. This made me aware of the many opportunities available to me and led me to where I am today. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Psychology. For nearly four years, I was a Process Engineer at Givaudan’s manufacturing facility in Cincinnati. During this time I also managed the co-op program for the site and supported others in the region. I started as a Portfolio Selector in the Flavor Creation & Application department at Givaudan’s North American Headquarters in 2024, primarily supporting the Beverage segment. Outside of work, I spend some of my time assisting with Mercy McAuley High School’s Women Lead Science program in order to provide connections, support and experience for young women in high school who are interested in a science or engineering field. I volunteer with the American Heart Association and 4 Paws for Ability in my free time. I joined Givaudan’s Adopt a Class team in 2022 to support and carry out activities for Bond Hill Academy Elementary School.
