Orlando Ortiz Silva started his career in the pharmaceutical industry as a Sales Specialist in the Venezuelan company Proton-Fleming. After one year working in the field, Dr. Ortiz held progressive positions in Boehringer-Ingelheim Venezuela for 11 years. He started as Assistant to the Medical Director dealing with Medical Affairs, training, pharmacovigilance and Compliance, being responsible for the existing and new products end-to-end designing, implementation and adherence to the scientific evidence, including training. Orlando was a key contributor in the creation of the infrastructure to comply with reporting requirements to both the headquarters and regulatory agencies, which was an important milestone for the Pharmacovigilance and Compliance at Boehringer-Ingelheim Venezuela.In 2005 Orlando was promoted to Medical Director/Clinical Safety and Compliance Officer, reporting to the Country Manager. In this role Orlando kept his previous scope of work now with responsibility for all Latin America countries for two core brands. In addition he handled drug regulatory affairs at Boehringer-Ingelheim Venezuela. Orlando’s leadership was instrumental in managing and driving new initiatives for the region, organize and conduct national and International events like Stand Alone Meeting, as well as interact with Opinion Leaders from several therapeutics Areas and national Medical Societies. Orlando was in charge of the regional Centre of Expertise, was an authorized spokesman of Boehringer-Ingelheim Venezuela and a member of the Operational Unit Executive Committee.Orlando was an Assistant Professor and Vice Dean of Postgraduate studies at Superior Institute of Medical Science of Havana.Orlando received his MD from Medical School in Havana, and earned his Paediatrics specialization at the same institution.Currently Orlando lives in USA.Specialties: Medical Doctor, Pediatrician, Pharmacovigilance specialist, Spokesperson certificated
