As a green entrepreneur and engineer, I specialize in the extraction of valuable phytochemicals from plants, renewable energy, water, biomass derived chemicals, micro-organisms and commercializing biological technology. At Apex Labs, we are optimizing the standard of mental health care for Veterans by bringing data-supported psilocybin-derived pharmaceuticals to market through a robust clinical program and market access strategy. Veterans have high incidences of depression and PTSD, causing a severe impact on quality of life. The majority prescribed SSRIs for depression, but issues like adherence, dose titration and side effects have made it challenging to manage, and psilocybin has shown promise in this area. With a PhD in Bioengineering and a master’s degree in environmental chemistry, I have led global clinical trials while being instrumental in the development & design of the extractions and formulations for a top three global cannabis company. This, coupled with my role as CSO of a biotechnology company developing poppy genetics to produce non-addictive opiate alkaloids has brought me to focus my energy and experience in serving this patient population alongside my dedicated team from Veteran, health, policy and drug commercialization communities and sectors.
