As a recipient of the 2025 Miller Center Lewis Family Fellowship for Global Impact, I traveled to Mexico City and worked for Grupo PROMESA, a company dedicated to creating sustainable communities, for two months. Our project focused on collecting insights from employees and the groups PROMESA partners with in order to help connect all of PROMESA’s detailed programs into one unified community.

ABOUT ORION COOK
I am currently a Senior at Santa Clara University majoring in Bioengineering with a minor in Urban Education. I have spent most of my life outside and have been working in the outdoor industry for the last three years, both with my school\'s backpacking and camping club Into the Wild during the school year and as a whitewater raft guide during the summers.Studying engineering has given me a lot of practice with learning and applying difficult topics effectively, and while I don\'t expect to work as an engineer, I believe these skills will transfer to many other jobs. I\'m most interested in more full-time positions within the outdoor industry or teaching high school, since I\'m looking for ways to use my complete set of skills to directly help people\'s lives while also finding balance for my own personal interests.
