About Omoro Omoighe
Omoro Omoighe is an experienced public health professional committed to shaping effective healthcare programming in partnership with underserved communities via policy, provider engagement education and research. Early and sustained inclusion of the patient perspective is critical to ensuring timely access to life-saving therapies reach people who need it most as soon as possible. My work includes the development and implemenation of community advisory coalitions to inform the implementation of clinical trial research, internal and external patient engagement strategies and market shaping for HIV, liver disease and inflammation. In partnership with patient advocates, researchers, policy analysts and healthcare providers, collective feedback from CAG members has resulted in critical modifications to recruitment strategies, study protocol language, trial marketing materials, and formalization of processes for sustaining community input making it easier for people at risk for or living with various health conditions to better understand, access and benefit from clinical research. Her portfolio includes the development and management of His Health, a training resource designed to help healthcare providers improve the standard of sexual health care for Black gay and bisexual men living with or at risk for acquiring HIV and leading a 14 member cross-sectorial team to implement HepConnect, a multi-million dollar initiative developed to address twinning HCV and opioid use disorder in Midwestern and Appalachian states in the U.S. with regional community partners at the helm of service delivery. She has also forged patient navigation programs for enrollment into health coverage via Washington D.C.’s state exchange, DC Health Link, and supported expansion of school based health centers in DC-based public health schools in partnership with Georgetown MedStar, Howard University, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, health departments and local Federally Qualified Health Centers. Her primary research focus areas include infectious diseases and sexual health, including studies regarding sexual health outcomes of young Ghanaian women, HIV transmission among pregnant/lactating among Swazi women, pregnancy prevention strategies among U.S. teenagers and urban U.S. populations at high-risk of HIV infection.
