ABOUT OMOLOLA T. AKINFISOYE
Many experiences have shaped how I portray things to be and ultimately inspired my mindset to focus on a specific career. Currently, I am in the College of Art and Science with a double major in Criminal Justice and Economics and minors in Informatics and African languages. I intend to pursue international law with a focus on the economic aspect of different countries as a career. An international economist on a larger scale. I chose this because growing up in a country like Nigeria which has a very dysfunctional economy, I was able to see the challenges of growing up in a country where there is no stable source of income that the economy could rely on. However, upon my migration to the US, there was a huge difference between the economy in Nigeria and the US. The difference was positive because the United States structured its economy in a way that relies on different sectors for revenue. However, the challenge that does exist is the huge social and economic disparities in the country, which causes so many people to become economically disadvantaged as a result of this. Although I wasn\'t brought up with vast knowledge in the area of technology, I am pursuing a minor in informatics. This was a difficult decision to make being that I have a double major which is time-consuming, as well as the fact that I am unfamiliar with coding techniques, however, I felt the need to challenge myself by equipping myself with technological knowledge and uses. I hope to intern at WHO, IMF, World Bank, Federal reserve bank, WTO, or possibly UNICEF. It is my goal to intern in one of these international organizations in order to get more understanding of what I intend on doing in the future.
