Experienced Civil, Structural & Building Engineer - HVDC Converter Station & Substation Engineering, Power Transmission & Distribution Networks, UK. My specialized technical experience includes the design and construction of high-voltage (33-400kV) substation infrastructures such as steel & aluminium support structures, foundations, cable trenches, control buildings, GIS buildings and transformer bunds. I am also proficient in substation layout optimization, site grading, earthworks, access roads, drainage design, and coordinating interfaces with Primary/electrical, Cable systems and Protection/control teams. I have expertise in performing load assessments for substation structures, conducting geotechnical evaluations, and ensuring compliance with National Grid (NG) and Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) technical specifications. My work also involves structural integrity checks, project management, design delivery, and the preparation of detailed construction packages, including drawings, specifications, and risk assessments. Additionally, my experience includes modifications to GIS buildings and GIS cable sealing end terminations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and operational constraints. I also provide pre-engineering and proposal-stage (tender, optioning and FEED) support for substation projects, delivering cost-effective, compliant tenders and solutions. My work involves using design tools such as Tekla Tedds, STAAD Pro, Civil 3D, Autodesk Robot, Revit, and InfoDrainage, along with other industry-standard software design programs.
