City of Ottawa, Confederation Line Extension (CLE), Ottawa, ON, CanadaConducting field noise investigations for multiple locations along Ottawa’s new LRT alignment including 44 km of new rail and 16 stations along the existing highway 174 (OR174) and highway 417. Environmental noise assessments are required using computer programs modeling including CadnaA and STAMSON to predict sound pressure levels for the vicinity of the CLE east, west, and SJAM extensions. Governing regulations, standards, and specifications involve Ministry of Environment Ontario (MTO) Environmental Noise Guideline, City of Ottawa’s Environmental Noise Control Guideline, United States Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Transit Noise and Vibration Impact Assessment Manual, United States Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) acoustical algorithms, as well as City of Ottawa Confederation Line Extension Project Agreement (PA) specifications. The study is performed to determine potential exceedances from the above-mentioned standards and codes within CLE alignment and surrounding community. Non compliances are analysed using computer models and PA proposed mitigations are evaluated for technical, administrative, and economic feasibility.

Omid is an experienced engineer with a proven record of experience in multi-disciplinary projects including infrastructure, tunneling, mining, civil & mechanical engineering assignments. Omid has been engaged in engineering design and modeling tasks and has acquainted with numerical modeling software packages such as Ansys, Subway Environment Simulation (SES), CadnaA noise environmental prediction program, STAMSON, etc. His recent project involvements include : Calgary Green Line LRT (CGLRT), Ottawa Confederation Line LRT Extension (CLE), Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE), Ottawa LRT phase 1, Yonge Subway Extension (YSE), and Société des Transports de Montréal train garage fire study (STM).
