ABOUT OMID MILANI
I am a creative director, human rights storyteller, and visual artist working at the intersection of law, aesthetics, and political imagination. My practice explores how visual culture can shape public dialogue, challenge authoritarian structures, and amplify our shared human creative agency. Drawing on a background in human rights scholarship and interdisciplinary artistic practice, I develop projects that translate complex socio-political realities into accessible visual and narrative forms. My work spans illustration, graphic storytelling, curatorial practice, and the design of exhibitions and public programming that bring together artists, scholars, and civic communities. I have led collaborative initiatives addressing themes such as state violence, constitutional rights, and the evolving relationship between art and human rights discourse. As curator of Images of Justice, an annual political cartoon exhibition, I have created platforms that foster critical dialogue through visual storytelling.Through world-building projects such as The Legend of OKO, I explore narrative environments where artistic practice and human rights inquiry converge, using creative storytelling to imagine alternative futures and expand the possibilities of collective expression.
