About Omar Ramsay

Omar Ramsay is a general counsel and risk management professional with nearly 15 years of experience in banking and tech. Most recently, he lead the legal, compliance, and risk department for a $1.5B financial institution. He also speaks regularly on the importance of mitigating emerging corporate risks.Prior to this role, Omar served as the head of legal for a startup that aimed to transform financing for the sporting goods industry. Omar established the startup\'s risk framework and helped the business navigate regulatory and legal headwinds. A long-time student-athlete, Omar graduated from the prestigious George Washington University, receiving GW\'s Presidential Academic Scholarship, which is awarded only to the most competitive applicants. A graduate of the U.S.\'s top HBCU law school, Omar was awarded a Cali Award and went on to complete an associate position at the nationally ranked law firm Mayer Brown. This role set him on the path to becoming a legal and compliance officer of mortgage lending in the banking industry. He went on to become one of the youngest black VPs at Huntington Bank during his time there (HNB is the 21st largest bank in the U.S. at $210B assets).Omar is barred in the state of Maryland and is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
