About Omari Bennett

I have always had a knack for solving complex problems. Growing up, I always found a challenge to be exciting and an opportunity for me to push myself in new ways. Entering primary school only furthered this resolve, only now I was given formulas and equations as the tools to solve those problems. I would find different ways to make money for living expenses by looking for products with high margins and low cost, selling water at 4x profit on a 36 pack as an example. My passion for numbers and solving problems took my curiosity to business, graduating from South Carolina State University with a B.S. in Business. From SCSU, I joined JP Morgan\'s Private Bank, where for 3 years I partnered with two senior bankers in managing a book of close to $2BN in AUM for high and ultra-high net worth clients across various investment, diversified credit, and trust and estate product offerings. At the end of my 3rd year, I was tasked with using abilities developed from my time in Investment Banking and Asset Management to join an emergency response team to address a potential violation of law issued to the firm, preventing possibly millions in fines. After 2 years of seeing that project to completion and into normal state, I transitioned to Citibank, where I consulted on various projects on Citi’s firmwide Internal Compliance Risk Management team, and in March 2022 took a full-time role managing business risk within AM. Today, I find myself with the same passion for tackling challenges and using data and process to overcome them. In my current role as a VP of Business Risk, I use data analysis, both quantitative and qualitative, to assess and recommend solutions to my team as a part of a broader risk management reimagination initiative. I also have established myself in entrepreneurship, managing my own investment and production companies since June of 2017. Recent wins include: • Completed in-depth analyses across multiples lines of business, countries, and product classifications, resulting in a successful audit of Citibank’s Offshore Wealth Services business. • Performed quality assurance analyses and user acceptance testing for Citi’s Retail Investment business, focusing on validation of system generated risk metrics and alert trigger accuracy When I am not working, I enjoy traveling, jazz music, playing piano and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through weight training and playing basketball to stay in shape.
