ABOUT OMAR MEJIA
I began community organizing in 2022, during my sophomore year at Bishop O’Dowd High School. After being politicized through the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center\'s civic engagement initiatives, I committed myself to keeping a foot in the community.Coming from Deep East Oakland, I have seen the results of folks who let their shattered dreams consume them, and have committed myself to keeping a foot in the community so that I can inspire those of marginalized communities to keep hope alive in turbulent times.I graduated from Bishop O’Dowd High School in 2025 and currently study Journalism at the University of Southern California. I am a first-generation college student and aspiring political journalist.
