ABOUT OMAR DAMJI

I’m Omar Damji, a dual-trained emergency medicine physician specializing in both adult and pediatric care. Born and raised in Calgary, I completed all my training locally, including a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences (Biomedical Stream) and a Master’s in Neurosciences at the University of Calgary. My early research focused on mapping physiology in children using non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, including TMS and tDCS, with applications in pediatric stroke rehabilitation, headache treatment, treatment-resistant depression, and spinal cord injury. After completing medical school, I pursued residency in adult emergency medicine and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Calgary. I currently serve as a staff emergency physician at Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, Alberta Children’s Hospital, and South Health Campus. Beyond clinical work, I’m the founder and CEO of VITAL XR LTD, a medical technology company focused on developing immersive clinical training tools. We aim to bridge software and hardware by integrating virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and 3D printing to create accessible, clinically validated tools for procedural skill acquisition. While my expertise centers on non-surgical skills, our mission extends to surgical specialties as well.
