ABOUT OMAR AHMED

I have proven myself to be a capable,resourceful, and versatile individual who finds ways to get things done. My current role at Eurofins CDMO Alphora, as well as prior roles at the National Research Council of Canada as well as Therapure Biopharma (Resilience Biotechnologies) are ample evidence of this, as I have consistently demonstrated an ability to lead demanding client projects, as well as play a leading role in transferring lab scale processes through scale up and into the production suites. In addition, I also have hands on experience and knowledge of protein purification from a wide variety of feedstocks including transgenic milk, human blood, human plasma (fractions), and CHO expressed proteins. I also have experience with the use of various modes of depth filtration for clarification, column chromatography, viral clearance steps, and tangential flow filtration (which I have developed for client projects). My having led the development of a Western blot protocol at Ryerson University in addition to training students in it\'s use further demonstrates my ability to develop analytical methods and my leadership skills. As well, I believe this also highlights my creativity and my research skills, which were both crucial for the successful completion of this project.Specialties: 1) Transfer of manufacturing processes to cGMP manufacturing at pilot scale. This includes cleanroom design, BPR writing, URS writing, SOP writing, as well as the creation of training matrices for manufacturing staff. 2) Technology transfer of processes which includes carrying out gap analyses, FMEA risk analyses, as well as implementing transfer runs at the laboratory bench scale. 3) Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting protein purification and Drug Development processes at lab scale and pilot scale. 4) Chromatographic purification of proteins (using AKTA FPLC systems), Depth Filtration, Microfiltration, Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) & HPLC analysis. 5) Competitive and Indirect ELISAs. 6) SDS PAGE and Western blotting.
