As a Co‑Lab Technician at Duke University, I provide technical support for student‑led engineering design and fabrication projects, overseeing the operation and maintenance of a diverse suite of advanced manufacturing equipment. I help manage up to 75 machines, including FDM and resin 3D printers, waterjet cutters, laser cutters, and engraving systems, ensuring proper calibration, material setup, and safe operation.I work closely with students to support the full design‑to‑manufacturing workflow, offering guidance on CAD preparation, file optimization, material selection, tolerancing, and process constraints for various fabrication methods. I assist with troubleshooting print failures, toolpath issues, and machine errors, helping students iterate efficiently and improve prototype performance.In addition to daily lab operations, I perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on fabrication equipment, including nozzle replacements, bed leveling, alignment checks, and system diagnostics to minimize downtime. I also help train and onboard students in machine operation, safety protocols, and best practices for rapid prototyping and digital fabrication.Beyond operational support, I actively participate in Co‑Lab projects, collaborating with staff and students to improve lab infrastructure, develop new workflows, and support innovative engineering initiatives. Through this role, I contribute to a technically rigorous, hands‑on environment that enables students to translate engineering concepts into functional, real‑world prototypes.
