Part of Plandescil’s management team working for the benefit of its Employee Ownership Trust.I have taken on the role of helping the company continue with its ethos of employing and training apprentices, in doing so I have helped train apprentices and mature apprentices accross a range of different academic and professional qualifications. This culminated in being recognised and highly commended for recruitment and employer of the year at the National Apprenticeship Awards.Since taking over as a Director I have put forward Business plans and proposals for developing our emerging technologies, we have now invested in drone technology and drone surveying, an area which I now manage.I have also developed and taken on the role of developing another arm of our buiness, which was the purchase of a GPR and drainage camera. We then trained externally and internally our own team including Engineers and Technicians to be able to offer GPR, Utility Surveys and Asset Management plans. We offer this service as an external service, but it is also important for our internal Engineers. By training Engineers we are able to offer a much more in depth and wider range of services as well as in depth knowledge of potential problems and being able to interpolate information on site straight to the client.I personally over see the work of approximate 20-25 people of the 40 within the company, contributing to over one third of the businesses turnover. Introducing a very clear tiered system and a direct order of hierarchy and routes to promotion.

I grew up in a family of engineers, mechanics, and builders, which gave me a hands-on foundation in problem-solving and construction from an early age. That background naturally shaped my career path into Civil Engineering.Whilst working at PDC, I studied part-time to achieve a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering. Taking this route was more challenging than full-time study, but it allowed me to balance workload, gain practical experience, and progress steadily within the business.Today, as Director at PDC Engineering with over 20 years experience in the field, I lead a team of 20 engineers, surveyors, planners, and technicians across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. My work spans everything from domestic developments through to multi-million-pound Waste-to-Energy and Anaerobic Digestion facilities.My role is broad and diverse, covering:Managing large civil & structural design packages for AD plants from tender to completionOverseeing drone technology, site compliance, tank & bund integrity testing, and advanced survey teams (utility & GPR)Delivering planning applications, building regulations packages, and technical approvals for roads, drainage, industrial buildings, and housing estatesProviding technical leadership on complex engineering challengesI am a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE and CEng MIET) and European Engineer (EUR ING) with specialist expertise in Waste and Anaerobic Digestion projects, particularly the application of CIRIA C759 and C736 containment bund standards, I am also part of the CIRIA review team rewriting these regulations and guidance.Passionate about practical engineering, leadership, and innovation, I’m always looking to deliver sustainable solutions and guide my team to excel across diverse projects.I have advanced my natural management skills by building my own teams within PDC and completing a Level 3 and Level 5 ILM management and leadership qualification, whilst now mentoring my own team into management roles.
