ABOUT OLIVIER KWEKAM

I am Actuarial Analyst for Export Development Canada, a crown corporation. My day-to-day work is to support the operations of the corporation in quantifying the risk related to our insurance products. This led me to be contribute to different projects such as the implementation of IFRS 17 and modeling claim frequencies. I am currently pursuing a part-time master\'s in information technology with specialization in machine learning and artificial intelligence. One of my goals is to improve existing predictive models with techniques borrowed from ML and AI to quantify risk. I am also looking at improving the computing power of current setups using high performance computing.My career in the financial industry started in 2011 when I joined a leading African Bank, Afriland First Bank, after my graduation from one of the prestigious Diplomatic schools in Africa (Institute of International Relations of Cameroon). Working with globally diverse people from different backgrounds and cultures have enrich my way of approaching problems and tailoring the solution. My experience and strengths involve- Modeling and quantifying risk related problems - Data Science and Machine Learning/AI (linear model, logistic, survival, decision trees, random forest, boosting methods, supervised and unsupervised learning, time series, etc.)- Granting and managing loans - Customer service: comfortable to interact with all levels of public in a professional manner - Ability to solve challenging problems; identify significant issues and find solutions - Ability to draw conclusions from data, logically and systematically - Ability to design; ability to see the big picture, beyond the details - Motivate to achieve results; particularly the results promoting business success - Advanced computer and programming skills (Java, Ocaml, Python, R, SAS, SQL, VBA, Office Suite)
