WORK HISTORY
Research Technologist @The Hospital for Sick Children
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other neurodevelopmental disorders, are genetically heterogeneous conditions, with a wide range of severity. Despite the recognized genetic basis of conditions like ASD, a comprehensive list of genes associated with the condition has yet to be developed. In my role as a Research Technologist, I evaluate genetic evidence, assessing the relationship between different genes and ASD. This involves examining clinical as well as genetic data.

ABOUT OLIVIA RENNIE
Medical student x Filmmaker x Dreamer. Creating under the pen name Autumn Sky, I am an MD/PhD student who dares to think outside the box about ways we can address some of the most pressing health and social crises of our time: through film and television. Currently in the PhD phase of the MD/PhD program at the University of Toronto, my work focuses on how we can leverage the screen-based industries as a tool for social advocacy - in healthcare and beyond. Having studied theatre and film prior to entering my medical studies, I continue to grow as a filmmaker through Toronto Film School’s Screenwriting and Film Production programs. Outside the world of film, I’m fortunate to have opportunities to work with organizations such as St. Michael’s Hospital and The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), and to serve in teaching roles for statistics at the University of Toronto. My passion for writing continues in the medical and science realm through my work with FluidAI Medical, a biotechnology company with a vision to radically improve postoperative patient care.
