About Olivia Parmer

My name is Olivia Parmer and I am a current junior at Marian University. I am an extremly enthusiastic person who is working on a double major BS in both Biology and Psychology. I also am on the leadership counsel and a dedicated teammate on Marian\'s Womens Soccer Team! I am very open to new opportunities coming with this background and I am looking forward to hopefully taking my education further into a masters or doctorate program. I am primarily interested in Environmental sciences like conservation, zoology, and animal care, but I also am very open and interested in the great world of conseling services and forensic psychology! I have a special interest in writing and creative expression through music so I\'ve always considered research in both departments as well. I\'m hoping to put my people skills to use with my education and create a significant difference wherever I am needed in life, and I hope you are ready to join me in this journey!

1. Exhibit Interpreter

   Newport Aquarium

   May 2025 — Present · Newport, KY, US

   I love being an exhibits specialist at the Newport Aquarium and helping to create meaningful memories that last a lifetime with guests that come to share a touching experience with our sea creatures! I change from post to post during my day and create a welcoming environment over a microphone when guests come into the exhibits. They are interactive touching exhibits and so I kindly direct the guests on proper touching technique, and encourage them to learn more about the animals in specific tanks by giving them fun information about what makes the animals so unique and important! The exhibits I work with include Tide Pool: Echinoderms and invertebrates, Stingray Hideaway: Cownose rays, and Shark Central: Pajama Catsharks, Japenese Bullhead Sharks, Port Jackson Sharks, and a California Horn Shark.
