About Olivia Shen

As a high school senior, I’m interested in how business, policy, and decision-making shape individual lives (especially in the areas of education and community). My experiences lie in school, nonprofit, and research settings, where I’ve worked on projects involving innovation and policy reform.Most recently, my work with the Institute of Youth in Policy has focused on school funding reform and hands-on grant work. I’m currently working towards learning how financial strategy and public policy translate into programs on the ground and where gaps in access and resources come from.Alongside this work, I\'ve applied what I\'ve learned at various community and state-level roles that strengthen my ability to collaborate, communicate clearly, and follow through on long-term projects. As the lead student Grant Coordinator for State College\'s local robotics chapter, I support funding research and grant proposals for gender equity initiatives in K-12 STEM.I strive for opportunities that challenge my critical thinking and allow me to contribute to work with measurable impact. For the time being, I\'m looking to continue developing a policy-oriented economics path, with a focus on advocating for underrepresented communities.
