About Olivia Rollins
I am a recent graduate from Boston University with a B.A. in International Relations that concentrates on Environment and Development. My interests and passions include sustainable development, environmental law, bioremediation, mycology, grant writing, and community development. Core Qualifications: Research, Project Management, Grant Writing, Communication, Community Engagement, Data Entry and Analysis, and Teamwork My most recent project,\"Fungi.So We Don\'t Die! A Proposal for the Network for the Advancement of Sustainable Mycology (NASM)\" was independently created, written, and researched over my last semester of undergrad, with the help and direction of Professor Rick Reibstein. In my work, I explored possibilities for using fungi to clean up contaminated land and construction debris; making packaging and building materials that can substitute for plastics; using fungi to convert agricultural waste to products like insulation, and other environmentally preferable products. I interviewed people in the industry and learned a great deal about the potential of fungi for creating sustainable solutions. I concluded that much greater coordination and information sharing are necessary to spur more rapid development of useful, sustainable materials and environmental restoration efforts.
