ABOUT OLIVIA PHILP

I am a Business Management student at the University of Exeter joining UBS for my Industrial Placement within Investment Risk, where I look forward to deepening my technical understanding of risk and its application in practice. My early experience across leading financial institutions including American Express and Legal & General has allowed me to gain exposure on how organisations manage risk, allocate capital, and respond to evolving market conditions strengthening my interest in risk control. A key highlight of my experience was winning the Legal & General Spring Start Challenge. Our team developed a 4-episode podcast concept and a 90-second trailer designed to make finance more accessible to a younger audience. The concept, “LEIN into Learning” (Learning, Engagement, Inclusion, Now You!), focused on presenting financial concepts in a relatable and engaging way while reflecting L&G’s values. This experience reinforced my interest in targeted communication and how financial services firms connect with future generations of clients and talent.Alongside this, my role as an Analyst at Gasworld Intelligence has strengthened my ability to interpret data, transform complex information into clear insights and communicate findings with commercial relevance.I am motivated by high-performance, collaborative environments and I am always keen to connect with professionals across finance and risk.
