About Olivia McCarty
Sophomore student at the George Washington University passionate about how we can combine science, research, and policymaking to drive innovative, sustainable solutions in the face of the growing climate crisis. Highly interested in doing environmental epidemiology research that spans how environmental exposures such as microplastics, pollutants, toxic chemicals, and climate related factors impact human health and how we can engineer solutions to these problems. Currently pursuing a BS in Public Health, with a minor in Sustainability on the pre-medical track. My goal with medicine in the future is to shift the focus of healthcare more towards prevention, with an emphasis on reducing harmful environmental risks before they lead to chronic disease.

During my current volunteer work as a ESL teacher I- teach a weekly 2-hour Advanced ESL class for adult Afghan immigrants, focusing on language skills, grammar, and smoother cultural integration-create and present weekly slideshow lessons for teaching topics-foster an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and encourages student participation
