The main purpose of birth tissue donation is to provide tissue-based products for wound coverings, diabetic ulcers, sports medicine, ophthalmology, spine, or dental procedures. Donated tissue is also utilized in the development of new clinical products or general research studies- Identified potential donors then obtained informed consent & related documentation- Performed hands-on aseptic placenta tissue acquisition procedures including: being present in the operating room, interacting with OR staff, and accepting freshly delivered placenta- Maintained compliance with company standard operating procedures- Performed tissue acquisition & collection procedure, and maintained hospital regulations & relations necessary for performance- Obtained blood samples & pertinent patient medical records from hospital staff- Performed tasks overseen and regulated by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and applicable state and federal agencies.
