15 years experience working variously as a research economist, think tanker, financial analyst and EU policy expert (climate and energy). Economist by training: Honours in Business Economics (UNSW, Australia, 2009) and PhD in the Economics of the European energy transition in the industrial sector. A career in applied micro and macro-economics and finance related to the energy transition. Experience as project finance analyst; as energy economist (coal, gas, power and carbon markets) and as research economist on transition to low-carbon economy. Over 10 years work as consultant & climate policy expert for influential European, French and German think tanks. Experience with project management, team management, client relations, prospecting future clients, funder/investor relations. Significant time spent on EU projects supporting European Commission & Parliament. Expertise in a wide range of climate, energy and economic topics, including: EU Green Deal; climate policy strategy; EU carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) and sustainable trade; macro and micro-economics of energy transition;(clean) industrial policy; clean-tech, competition policy & finance; public finance of the energy transition; Carbon Contracts for Difference; industrial decarbonisation strategies; life-cycle emissions assessment (LCA); EU sustainable products policy; lead markets & incentives for low-carbon and circular products; circular economy; embodied carbon regulation in buildings; energy security; critical raw materials; coal and gas markets.Experience and passion for working in and managing teams.
