As President of Lonsdale Football at Lancaster University, I led one of the university’s largest college sports societies, overseeing both the executive committee and the wider membership of around 80 players. My role combined leadership, financial management and community impact through sport.Within the role, I-Led a Large Executive Team: Oversaw and coordinated a 15-person committee, ensuring effective delegation, collaboration, and delivery of society objectives-Secured Sponsorship & Funding: Raised over from local sponsors, strengthening the society’s financial stability and enhancing opportunities for members-Drove Media & Engagement: Managed the society’s social media platforms, publishing sponsorship promotions, matchday lineups, results, and updates to increase visibility and engagement-Managed Finances: Oversaw budgeting and financial management, ensuring costs were kept as low as possible to maximise accessibility for members-Organised Fundraising Initiatives: Coordinated the annual Movember campaign, raising awareness and funds for men’s mental health-Handled Operations & Compliance: Managed administrative responsibilities including club re-affiliation, pitch bookings, and training in safeguarding and data protection.

ABOUT OLIVER OLLIE PORTLOCK
I am a driven and ambitious student studying a BSc in Mathematics and Economics. Throughout my degree, I’ve developed a strong foundation in mathematical, economic, and financial modelling, strengthening my analytical thinking and building a strong quantitative skillset through working with data and applied economic problems.During university, I’ve actively sought opportunities to contribute to campus life and develop my leadership skills. In my final year, I serve as President of my college’s football club, overseeing four teams, and Treasurer of the university’s Economics & Finance Society, which has over 300 active members and several initiatives. In earlier years, I also served as a football captain, academic representative, and an equity research analyst for the university’s student investment fund.I recently completed a summer internship with Barclays in their Retail Banking division in Glasgow. Following this experience, I will be returning to Barclays to complete their two-year Retail Banking Graduate Programme based at the Knutsford campus, where I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my career in banking.
