ABOUT OLIVER ORJI

I am a UK-registered Biomedical scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science (FIBMS).I have had a combined 12 years of experience working in clinical laboratories, teaching undergraduate biomedical science students and performing biomedical research both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.Having had a UK experience in Molecular Diagnostics, Immunology and Clinical Chemistry, I have also worked as hourly paid lecturer in Biosciences at the Nottingham Trent University, Clifton Campus, teaching and supporting undergraduate as well as postgraduate taught and research students of biomedical science, pharmacology, biotechnology and biochemistry in the School of Science and Technology, Clifton Campus. For my contribution to learning and teaching in Higher Education (HE), I hold the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), having achieved all the dimensions (D2) of the UK\'s Advance HE Professional Standards Framework (PSF).I am also Royal Society of Biology-certified for E1/L, PIL A&B + Module K and a Home Office Procedure Individual Licence holder.My research has been multi-disciplinary and cross-cutting and involved basic, preclinical and clinal studies in biomedical science at the University of Nigeria and the University of Nottingham. My current (postdoctoral) research involves the use of genomic and cellular biology techniques to understand molecular underpinnings of genetic-based diseases,(DM1 in particular), and also testing novel compounds in vitro and in vivo, with a view to finding solutions to the currently incurable disease. This is a multidisciplinary drug discovery project funded by the Medical Research Council in collaboration with the Nottingham University School of Chemistry, the University of Oxford and the industry.I am passionate, motivated, attentive, organised and personable, working together with team members to deliver group objectives.
