WORK HISTORY
Research Fellow @University of Aberdeen
Aberdeen, GB
Postdoctoral Researcher with the SAFARI Group at the University of Aberdeen. My core research focuses on the expansion of the SafariDB by generating detailed sedimentological and stratigraphic descriptions for a suite of virtual outcrops. Alongside this, I design and develop interactive 3D virtual field tours, facilitating remote geoscience education and subsurface analogue training for both industry and academic partners.

ABOUT OLIVER BUTTON
Postdoctoral Researcher with the SAFARI Group at the University of Aberdeen. My work focuses on expanding SafariDB by generating sedimentological and stratigraphic descriptions for 3D virtual outcrops. I also design interactive virtual field tours to provide remote geoscience education and subsurface analogue training.I hold an industry-funded PhD in clastic sedimentology, specialising in the application of outcrop analogues to subsurface datasets, with reference to Permian dryland successions. My background includes extensive international fieldwork, sedimentary core and outcrop logging, regional correlation, and palaeogeographical mapping. My industry experience includes regional seismic stratigraphic interpretation, field-scale reservoir characterisation, well log analysis, resource estimation, and target mapping.Cover Photo: My BSc geological mapping project area at Lac d\'Émosson, Switzerland.
