About Olila Steven

Mastercard Foundation Scholar | MSc Global Technology & Development, ASU | Digital Inclusion & Civic Tech Innovator | Champion of Rural Futurism. I am a community development practitioner, researcher, and social innovator using technology to drive inclusive development in rural and underserved communities. Currently pursuing my MSc in Global Technology and Development at Arizona State University as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, I focus on digital inclusion, civic tech, and data justice. Previously, I supported national legal identity access with NIRA Uganda and contributed to research and data-driven development projects with UBOS, Innovations for Poverty Action, and the Okere City Project. I have also designed chatbot innovations addressing SRHR, hygiene education, and GBV awareness, and participated in global youth leadership programs including YALI RLC East Africa and the World Literacy Foundation Youth Ambassador Program. I believe in Rural Futurism—a future where local communities drive change using technology, data, and community-led innovation.
