ABOUT OLGA MATTHIAS
Olga is a multi-award winning academic and management consultant. Since joining academia on a 3-year Foundation for Management Education/Economic and Social Research Council Fellowship, she has successfully transferred a practical skillset developed over many years as a management consultant to academia to contribute to research, learning and teaching. As a consultant she focuses on optimising performance through people, process and system alignment, with clients across multiple sectors, including financial services, logistics, engineering, education, non-profit and healthcare.Research and teaching reflects the broad and practical experience base in the area of Business Operations and Performance, where as a consultant she specialised in customer service delivery, performance improvement through enhancing people skills, process and IT. Her research in professional services, healthcare, consultancy and the legal profession explores service design, quality and improved performance. Olga has published extensively and supervised students in these areas. As Research Lead for the Department of Finance, Accounting and Business Systems at Sheffield Hallam University Olga\'s role was to develop capacity and capability in line with the University\'s strategic objectives and core themes. Before joining Sheffield Business School, Olga held a number of other leadership roles at University of Bradford School of Management. She was Head of Operations and Information Management Department (20••••17) and Director of Masters Programmes (20••••13). Prior to joining academia in 2007 Olga was a Managing Consultant at PA Consulting Group, where she was Practice Head of Retail Finance – Mutual Sector and Deputy Head of Retail Finance Sector. In 2013 Olga helped establish the Operations, Logistics and Supply Special Interest Group at the British Academy of Management and was a founder committee member. She is on the Editorial Advisory Boards of International Journal of Operations and Production Management and the Journal of Operations Management, as well as serving as a reviewer on numerous other journals, such as Journal of Service Research, Journal of Management Studies and Production Planning and Control.https://capabilitygap.com/
