ABOUT OLGA PIATEK

I’m a clinical pharmacist at Premera Blue Cross. I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2021. I completed a post-graduate residency program with Optum Specialty Pharmacy, in Phoenix, AZ, where I gained extensive experience in complex disease management, specialty pharmacy operations, and high-cost limited distribution pharmaceuticals.After I completed my residency, I joined the Premera Blue Cross Medicare Advantage pharmacy team. I developed both individual and population-based solutions aimed at improving Medicare Star Ratings and HEDIS performance, with a particular focus on Medication Therapy Management (MTM) and chronic disease management, in this role.Since October 2024, I have been involved in developing and implementing new strategies to increase biosimilar utilization and reducing medication costs for Premera members as well as the plan. Additionally, I support the Federal Employee Plan (FEP) and other Premera lines of business, concentrating on MTM, HEDIS and pharmacy adherence measures.To further enhance my expertise in providing affordable and high-quality care, I obtained the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) certification. I actively precept students and residents and was recently appointed to the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy, which enables me to pursue my passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of pharmacists.
