ABOUT OLEG RUSSU
Stumbling into Automation, Robotics and AIAfter earning my mechanical engineering degree, I was working in project management and quality control when I was handed a failed integration project: a 6-axis Fanuc robot, multiple CNCs, a couple of mystery PLCs, and a half-finished carousel. No one else wanted it. I didn’t even know what a PLC was. Six months later, the system was running lights-out. And it\'s still running to this day.Since then, I’ve designed and built full automation systems from scratch; mechanical, electrical, and controls. I’ve led teams, retrofitted legacy equipment, built $400K+ assembly machines, and automated manufacturing processes across multiple industries. I work hands-on with everything from servo motors and safety systems to robot arms, sensors, and databases and AI (I wrote several vision systems using YOLO as well as a transformer based LLM). I don’t specialize in one thing, I specialize in making it all work.I’m especially passionate about solving hard problems for small and mid-sized manufacturers, places where smart automation can make the biggest impact but where giant integrators don’t pay attention.I’m open to connecting with others passionate about automation, robotics, advanced manufacturing, or building systems that run themselves… reliably, affordably, and without excuses.
