As a Senior Software Engineer in the Dashboard Backend team at Adjust, I maintain and evolve eight backend services built mainly in Ruby and partially in Elixir. The system relies on both synchronous REST communication and asynchronous event-driven workflows using Kafka. I focus on improving service architecture, scalability, and operational visibility- refactored the permission system, building a scalable new service with flexible, fine-grained access control- improved observability by introducing monitoring dashboards, request tracing, and better service documentation- migrated sensitive configuration and secrets to Hashicorp Vault, increasing security and standardization- unified Ruby linting rules across projects, improving code quality and consistency- introduced code coverage tracking and reporting to raise testing standards- reduced CI pipeline runtime by parallelizing test execution- modernized Docker setups to simplify local development and improve onboarding
