About Ole Jacob Gjertsen

During my 20 years in the drilling industry I have had the privilege of working with amazing women and men from all over the world. I have lived half of my career abroad and travelled to more than 60 countries to provide business and engineering support. The cultural and gender diversity from this experience has been instrumental in my development as a human being, coworker and leader. They say every day is a school day, which perfectly sums up our line of work! My ‘main subjects’ are root cause analysis problem solving and applying technology for continuous performance improvement working closely with customer drilling teams.Working for SLB I have decision making influence over the largest new technology portfolio and R&D budget including materials, tools, design, digital and software. This is key to the demonstrated success of our cutting structure centric drilling products. These products are where the rubber meets the road when drilling a well and therefore very dependent on in-depth application knowledge and understanding. My global application exposure combined with our best in class engineers, products, drilling database and dynamic modeling capabilities put me in a unique position to help meeting and exceeding customer drilling objectives.In my current role as Drilling Product Engineering Domain Head I am also directly involved with transforming the way we work leading in digital enablement and efficiency gains to reduce our joint carbon foot print.Please reach out if you have drilling challenges you’d like help with.
