About Olana Munson

After I graduated college, my plan was to pursue a career in human resources, but it took me a while to figure this out. When I was in high school, it felt like everyone around me knew what they wanted to do with their life. Some wanted to be teachers, doctors, dentists, engineers, or preachers. I just knew what I didn’t want to do. I couldn’t work in the medical field because I would faint at the sight of blood. I didn’t like math or science. That rules out a lot of things. I couldn’t stand the idea of law school. I sucked at cooking (although I\'ve gotten better at it). I had no sense of design (and still don’t). I liked kids, but not enough to spend all day with someone else’s child. So, there I was, confused. All I knew was I wanted to work with people. One day, after I shared this with my dad, he came home from work saying,“Olana, maybe you should look into human resources.” He had been interviewing people for a Human Resources position at work that day and when he asked one of the candidates why she chose Human Resources as a career, she replied, “because I love working with people.” (Ding!)That was the moment I began to pursue a career in Human Resources.My career at Schulte Subaru, and other experiences along the way have developed my communication and time management skills as well as my natural detail orientation and grit.I began my career as an HR Generalist at Schulte Subaru following my college graduation and have since been promoted to Office Manager. I am teachable, driven, and passionate about choosing to make a difference and empowering others to step into their potential every day.
