About Oksana Hirchak

Born and raised in Ukraine, I have been living in the United States since August 2021. I hold a BA in History and an MEd in Secondary Education (History) from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukraine. After graduation, I moved to Beijing, China, where I taught English at a training center. My academic journey in the United States began in 2020 at Indian Hills Community College. In August 2021, I moved to Iowa to complete my final term and transferred to the University of Iowa as a senior in January 2022, graduating the following year. I then relocated to Western Massachusetts to work with a non-profit organization dedicated to community support and empowerment. In May 2025, I earned a Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Michigan, which enhanced my understanding of leadership, business strategy, and creative problem-solving—skills that complement my work in the human services field. As part of my Master of Social Work program, I am currently completing my field placement at Charron Services in Michigan. In this role, I lead and facilitate online groups for men who have perpetrated domestic abuse. Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I support clients in increasing self-awareness and initiating behavioral change. I help create an educational and nonjudgmental environment where participants are encouraged to identify and acknowledge their use of violence or coercive control, while also providing ongoing feedback on their progress. Specializing in Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse, I am committed to the core values of Service and the Dignity and Worth of the Person. My professional and academic experiences reflect a deep commitment to equity, justice, and meaningful social change. Through my continued work, I aim to make a lasting impact in communities by supporting individuals and systems in achieving greater well-being and fairness.
