ABOUT OGUZ KARASU

Oğuz Karasu completed his PhD in September 2023 at the Department of Economics, Istanbul University, with a dissertation titled “An Economic Analysis of the Space Industry in the United States.”He worked for seven years as a planning manager at the Washington, D.C. office of the international television channel, TRT World between 2017 and 2023.During his PhD studies, he also earned a second master\'s degree in Applied Economics from George Washington University and took classes at the Space Policy Institute.He served as the Vice President of Public Affairs on a voluntary basis for two years at the National Economists Club, based in Washington, D.C.Since February 2024, he has been working as a research fellow under the Oxford Space Initiative at the University of Oxford, Saïd Business School. He contributes as a jury for MBA students\' projects under the Strategy Consulting Project, doing supervision for \'Internship for Credit\' and being an assessor as a member of the teaching team for Saïd Business School’s executive education programs, including the Oxford AI-Driven Business Transformation Executive Programme and the Oxford Saïd Strategic Innovation Programme.His research focuses on the UK space industry and its economic impacts, particularly exploring the economic implications of emerging space projects.Since August 2024, Karasu has also been lecturing on space economics to master’s students in the online program at the Italy-based Space Economy Institute.He provides consultancy services as a Space Economist to space companies, primarily in the UK.Through Aktif Akıl Strategy Communication Consultancy, he offers investment and strategy consulting to startups and companies operating in Türkiye and other countries. He supports companies in shaping their strategies during the fundraising process and helps connect them with the right investors.In addition to his academic and professional work, Oğuz Karasu writes short stories and poems in the field of Turkish literature and enjoys taking analog photographs during his travels.
