ABOUT OGE ELUMELU

I studied Politics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics and am currently undertaking an MSc in African Studies, where I examine questions of governance, political economy, and Africa’s evolving place in the global order. My academic work engages with how knowledge about Africa is produced. This includes epistemological debates, institutional legacies, and the challenges of conducting rigorous research across complex political contexts. I am currently undertaking my own dissertation research, exploring themes of state legitimacy and youth political engagement in the Nigerian context.My professional experience spans strategy, development, and multilateral engagement. At McKinsey & Company, I gained exposure to institutional strategy and commercial problem-solving. At the Tony Elumelu Foundation, I worked within Africa’s entrepreneurship ecosystem, engaging with private-sector development across emerging markets. At the African Union, I contributed to youth and climate-focused initiatives within multilateral policy spaces.Alongside this, I host Africa and Everywhere: Conversations with Oge, a podcast platform where I facilitate conversations with founders, policymakers, and cultural leaders shaping the continent’s future. Through research and storytelling, I aim to contribute to more nuanced discussions about African markets, institutions, and leadership.I am also pursuing a career in commercial law with White & Case LLP. I am particularly interested in understanding how complex commercial transactions are structured, how capital moves across borders, and the value lawyers bring in executing high-stakes deals, especially within emerging economies.At the core of my work is a commitment to rigorous inquiry, thoughtful dialogue, and strengthening the institutions, political, legal, and commercial, that shape Africa’s future.
