About Octavia Brown
MA, Counseling and Psychological Services. BA, Psychology. A full scholarship recipient and graduate of the First Generation Initiative, Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. I joined at Saint Mary’s university to work as Coordinator for Countdown to College for first-generation high school students on the path to college. I have great leadership and interpersonal communication skills. I am also resilient, patient, creative, willing to learn, and team-oriented,but can make leadership decisions on behalf of the group if necessary. I have an immense passion for psychology and I love working with people, especially at-risk youth. I have had the fortunate opportunity over a number of years to work with those from underrepresented communities. Needless to say, that work has created a passion within me of wanting to continue to serve this particular population in the future. Experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and young adults. Extensive experience working with young people of color and first-generation students.
